Edgar Potter (1918 - 1943)
Called up in October 1939, Edgar served as a Driver with the Royal Engineers but was captured by the Japanese when Singapore surrendered in February 1942. He subsequently endured 20 months of slavery in barbaric conditions before succumbing to disease on the island of Formosa (now called Taiwan).

In order to try and tell the story of Edgar’s life as fully as possible, a request has been submitted to the Ministry of Defence for a copy of his Service Record.
Due to the exceptionally high volume of requests that the Ministry are currently receiving, it looks as if it will be the end of this year (or later) before a copy of the document is released.
