Details
In the summer of 1811, Constable returned to East Bergholt from Epsom following his exhibition of ‘Dedham Vale Morning’ at the Royal Academy. He was also courting his future wife Maria Bicknell and finally received Maria’s father’s permission to write to her in the October.
The sketch is compared closely with ‘View of Beaufont Cottage from Golding Constable House’, ‘Flatford Mill’ and ‘West Lodge’
